10 local delicacies to try in Vietnam

Vietnam is a Food Paradise and every traveller must taste the delicious dishes which are exclusively available in Vietnam.

They not only look good but also tastes good and are healthy.

In this article, I would be covering my 10 most favourite delicious dishes out of several delicacies that I had tried in Vietnam.

[Note : I do NOT eat pork and beef so you will not see those dishes in this article]

Pho is the staple food of Vietnam which is a simple broth with fresh rice noodles, herbs and chicken.

It is delicious and also cheap and are available in all the parts of Vietnam.

Goi Cuon is a light and healthy fresh spring rolls with translucent parcels packed with green salads and small amount of meat or seafood.

Goi Cuon is served with lettuce and spicy fish sauce.

You been to Subway? Then this may look familiar but wait these Banh Mi are more healthier and the most popular street foods in Vietnam!

Banh Mi contains a colorful combination of cheese, cold cuts, pickled vegetables, sausages, fried eggs, fresh cilantro and chilli sauce.

Banh Xeo – Vietnamese Pancakes

Banh Xeo is one more healthy food which I usually have during my breakfast. These pancakes contain shrimp, beans, sprouts and egg. They are fried, wrapped in rice paper with greens and served with a fish sauce.

I packed Banh Xeo from Mua cave lodge before leaving to HaLong Bay and believe me it was so filling that I didn’t feel hungry for 5-6 hours!

Cao Lau was my favourite food when I was in Hoi An.

Cao Lau is a bowlful of thick rice noodles, bean sprouts and chicken in a light soup. It is also flavoured with mint and star anise, topped with slices of chicken and served with grilled rice-flour crackers.

6. Cha Ca

When I was in HaLong Bay’s cruise, Cha Ca was my favourite and indeed this is what I was eating a lot!

This is a white fish marinated in turmeric and sautéed in butter with dill and spring onions, then served with rice noodles and crushed peanuts.

Goat meat is the famous dish in Ninh Binh and indeed my favorite dish in Vietnam.

Goat meat in Ninh Binh are so special as it contains lot of nutritional benefits and are packed with high amount of testosterone.

8. Trung Vit Lon

Fertilized duck eggs (Trung vit lon) are rich source of protein in vietnam.

In these eggs, bird embryo is already partly formed, although it is not always visible as an actual bird as it depends on the stage of development.

Kids love these fertilized quail eggs (Trung cut lon) as these are smaller, easier to eat and indeed rich in protein too.

These eggs are served with basil leaves, herbs and chilli sauces.

10. Grilled Ostrich Meat
